The Four Steps of Dental Hygiene

Posted .

Oral hygiene is very important to having a strong, healthy and beautiful smile, but trying to properly clean your smile can be tricky. Our dental team is happy to tell you that oral hygiene is much more simple than you may think. We offer the following four steps to properly clean your smile and keep your smile in good health:

1. Brush Your Teeth
We encourage you to brush your teeth twice per day using fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to properly and efficiently clean your teeth. This technique helps to keep your teeth and gums in good health by brushing away any bacteria to prevent tooth decay and infection from developing in the oral cavity.

2. Floss Your Teeth
Floss your teeth every day to deeply clean between the teeth and remove any food particles that may be lingering in hard-to-reach spaces in your smile. Flossing reduces plaque and tartar around the teeth and gums.

3. Rinse Your Mouth
Rinse out your mouth every day using an effective mouthwash that can offers properties such as fluoride and preventing gingivitis by eliminating bacteria. Use a small sip of mouthwash to swish around your mouth for at least 30 seconds to flush away lingering bacteria and food particles.

4. Visit the Dentist Regularly
It’s important to receive professional dental cleanings at least twice a year. During these visits, our team deeply cleans your smile by removing plaque from your tooth surfaces to prevent the development for gum disease.
